Izmir has one 20-km-long metro line. It’s one of the densest metro lines in Turkey.
Izmir suburban service, Izban, is Turkey’s longest suburban services with highest ridership. With successful integration with other system, Izban became the backbone of mass transit in Izmir.
Two new tram lines were commissioned in late 2017 and early 2018 in Izmir. They were criticized due to several changes in project. They are connecting the coastline to other mass transit services.
