Transport Ministry’s tender for rail project connection Antalya to Airport and Expo is completed.
Makyol is awarded TL 259 mn (€ 76 mn) Antalya-Expo railway project.
The new line will be the extension of current tram line. 17 km of this 18-km-long railway line will be overground.
The new line starts from Meydan, follows the main road connecting Antalya to Alanya for 16 km and ends in the area under construction for EXPO 2016. There’s also a connection line to Antalya Airport.
The line has 16 stops. It starts with Meydan Stop, the interchange station to Fatih-Meydan tram line. At Airport Crossing Stop, there’s a connection line to Airport. The main line has stops at Anfas, Kursunlu and Aksu after Airport Crossing, and ends at Expo Stop.
The project is planned to last 450 days, and be completed by December 2016. Thus, this service will not run during Expo 2016 which is between April and October.
