Hyundai Rotem is alone in Mecidiyekoy Metro tender

Hyundai Rotem remains the only company in the tender for 300 metro cars of Kabatas-Mecidiyekoy-Mahmutbey Metro line under construction.

Last week, Public Tender Office finalized its assessment about Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality’s tender opened last July for the 75 sets (4-cars each). All offers except Hyundai Rotem-Hyundai Eurotem’s were excluded from the tender. Hyundai Rotem’s offer is worth €280.2mn which was the second best offer.

Alstom, Bombardier and CRRC had also given offer for the tender, and CRRC’s was the best with €277.2mn. Public Tender Office had rejected offers of CRRC, Siemens and Alstom due to reason that they don’t meet the signature procedures.

A similar development happened also last year, in another tender of 17 metro sets for Yenikapi-Haciosman Metro. CRRC had the best offer, but discluded from the tender and Hyundai Rotem was awarded as having the second best offer.

According to the terms of tender, first 36 sets has to be delivered between 22-38 months after signing contract, and remaining 39 sets should be delivered between 39-58 months.

18-km-long Mecidiyekoy-Mahmutbey Metro is planned to be completed in 2017, and 7-km-long Kabatas-Mecidiyekoy in 2018.

Hyundai Eurotem is an associated company of Hyundai Rotem and TCDD, which has a plant in Adapazari, next to Tuvasas. Production of Marmaray and Izban sets were completed there.

Hyundai Rotem had been awarded three urban tenders last year, in Istanbul, Izmir and Antalya.
