Van-Tehran train service will soon restart.
Train services between Turkey and Iran, which were suspended due to the pandemic, are resuming. The routes will operate between Van and Tehran.
The train services will be conducted with seven couchette wagons. Each couchette wagon consists of 10 compartments, each containing four beds.
There will be two departures in each direction every week. The train will depart from Tehran every Sunday and Wednesday at 12:35. The departures from Van are every Monday and Thursday at 20:00. The first departure from Tehran will be on March 9, and from Van on March 10.
The distance between Van and Tehran is 1065 km, where trains will cross this distance in 22 hours.
Train tickets can be purchased from Adana, Ankara, Eskişehir, Sirkeci and Halkalı (Istanbul), Basmane (Izmir), Konya, and Van train stations.
There’s no other train service to Van. There are train services from Ankara and Elazığ to Tatvan, which is on the other side of Van Lake, 135 km from Van. There are bus services between Tatvan and Van.
