TCDD Tasimacilik AS has introduced its new website.
The first train operator of Turkey after liberalization of railway transportation opened its new website. All services and information about passenger and freight trains can be accessed at www.tcddtasimacilik.gov.tr.
The new website has modern look with simple user-interface and high-resolution photos.
Although new company also owns “tcddtasimacilik.com.tr”, it seems that the extension that refers to governmental ownership is preferred.
New site has English support*.
4448233 will be the number for call center of TCDD Tasimacilik AS from now on.
* The website was opened early today, and updated at noon with important changes. English support is one of them.

Even though there are improvements on the new website, there is something strange about the way in which regional train timetables are listed. For example, if I want to travel from Manisa to Alasehir, I need to look up three separate timetables to find all the timings, because Alsancak to Usak, Alsancak to Alasehir and Manisa to Alasehir are all listed separately. This is also the case for services from Basmane along the line to Denizli. Wouldn’t it make more sense and be easier from passengers to show all the services (however long or short) along one particular line?
Exactly.. Probably the staff preparing the website never uses trains. 🙂
