5 billion needed annually for HST lines

Share of investments in railway is about 6 billion TL in 2014 budget. More than 1 billion of this is reserved for high speed train projects.

Yes, railway has the biggest share in transportation budget, and transportation has the biggest in all others. But is that enough? Will 1 billion TL be sufficient for the whole already accepted/started high speed rail projects?

Of course, the biggest share in 2014 budget is for Istanbul-Ankara HST line. But a number of HST projects already exists in budget such as Ankara-Sivas, Ankara-Izmir, Bursa-Ankara HST lines, 6 Velaro HST sets and 106 new HST sets.

All high speed train projects declared in 2014 budget, realizations and needed funds in following years are as follows:

TCDD has to find a fund of 5,2* billion TL annually for the following three years only for the high speed trains projects declared in the budget. Additional funds for the other HST projects heard like Antalya, Samsun, Kayseri and Malatya are not included, which seems to begin not before 2018.

Another point in the budget is about the Istanbul-Ankara HST line. There are several dates declared for the opening of the line. But in budget, 2016 is declared as the ending date, and it needs 2,5 billion TL to complete the project, 600m of which is planned to be funded in 2014.
