The new high speed train set of Turkey, Velaro, had crossed Marmara and arrived Derince Port after midnight.
The new high speed train set, Velaro TR, after a few days of waiting at European side, had completed the toughest part of its journey starting from Germany, crossing Marmara Sea by ferry.
The high speed train set, was loaded to Tekirdag Derince Rail Ferry, Erdeniz, yesterday, after being prepared for the journey. Erdeniz departed from Tekirdag Port yesterday afternoon, and arrived Derince Port after midnight, as MarineTraffic reported. The set had been demounted into two pieces for transport on ferry, and will continue its journey after being mounted at Derince. Velaro is expected to be at Ankara within two days.
The set is totally 260 m long with two adapters. Thus demounting is needed before loading to Tekirdag Derince Rail Ferry, which has 5 tracks longest of which is 180 m. The toughest part of this thousands-km-long transport is crossing Marmara Sea. Although the set had arrived on Tuesday, the best weather conditions must have been waited for a secure transport.
This set is a part of 7-sets-tender which Siemens was awarded. First set of this order had arrived Turkey in 2014. Rest of the order is expected to be delivered, and at least some of them to start service within this year.
