How to get to Cappadocia by train?

The historical region and natural beauty in central Anatolia.

The area is known with exceptional natural wonders, in particular characterized by fairy chimneys and a unique historical and cultural heritage. (see more at Wikipedia). Hot-air ballooning is very popular in Cappadocia and gives chance to see whole region from air.

Cappadocia is in Central Anatolia, within the province of Nevsehir, not rail connected. Closest train station is Kayseri train station.

Kayseri main bus terminal is 8 km away from train station. You can go there by bus or tram.

Nevsehir is 70 km away, and buses are departing almost every hour during day.

Cappadocia is very close Nevsehir (13 km) and transport to main destinations and towns in the region (Urgup, Goreme, Ihlara Valley, Uchisar, Avanos and Zelve) is very easy with minibuses running very frequently during day.

  • You can buy Kayseri-Nevsehir bus ticket online. When googled, several websites are listed.
  • Goreme National Park which is in Unesco World Heritage list, Derinkuyu and Kaymakli underground cities, Piegon Valley, Church of Karlik, Church of Theodoro, Archeological Site of Soganli are all in Cappadocia. Goreme Archeological Site is open everyday (muze.gov.tr)
  • Hot air balloon ride will allow you to watch beautiful valleys, fairy chimneys and caves of Cappadocia from sky. The balloon tour companies are all licenced, flights are under control of General Directorate of Civil Aviation.
