The Marmaray Project, to connect Asia and Europe by rail, had its first trial run on August 4, 2013 with the participation of Prime Minister of Turkey.
The trials have started on first phase of the Marmaray Project, yet only between the main stations on Asian and European side of Istanbul, and is expected to be open by October 29, 2013.
After completion of all phases of Marmaray Project, two ends of Istanbul will be connected by metro as well as Europe will be connected to Asia by rail for freight trains.
