# 8 – Edirne – Villach train (Optima Express)
Optima Express mainly targets the Turkish people living in Germany, who’d like to come to Turkey by car and could not take attraction of travellers yet.
This train has the longest route among all overnight trains in Turkey. The route between Edirne, Turkey and Villach, Austria is 1405 km long and travel time is 31 hours.

Train’s biggest disadvantage is the departure/arrival station in Turkey. Trani departs from Edirne, a city close to Bulgarian border. The station is a little out of city center.
Villach is an important junction in central Europe. Station is at city center.
There’re compartments with 4 and 6 seats/beds and restaurant car with limited menu.

Excellent post. I love sleeper train travel and in the past often made the journey between Aleppo and Istanbul
wish we could do it soon
I would also suggest the routes serving Adana from Ankara and the (former? I hope it runs again!) one from Haydarpasa too: the section down from Ülükisla to Yenice especially is stupendous!
There’s only Toros Express on that route by now, between Adana and Kayseri.
