# 7 – Izmir – Ankara train (Izmir Mavi)
Izmir Mavi used to run between Izmir and Ankara, but now operates until Eskisehir due to engineering works at Ankara.
Izmir Mavi restarted to run between Ankara and Izmir starting from Oct 15, 2018.
The route is 837 km long and travel time is 14:30 hours.

There are only sleeper cars, but no couchettes in this train. If you traveling foursome, you need to get two compartments.
There’s no chance of watching view from train, since it runs during night.
Both train stations are at the heart of cities. Both cities have wide variety of accommodation and a lot of places to see.

Excellent post. I love sleeper train travel and in the past often made the journey between Aleppo and Istanbul
wish we could do it soon
I would also suggest the routes serving Adana from Ankara and the (former? I hope it runs again!) one from Haydarpasa too: the section down from Ülükisla to Yenice especially is stupendous!
There’s only Toros Express on that route by now, between Adana and Kayseri.
