What is Transport of Ministry doing for which city?


The budget of Ministry of Transport for Izmir caused discussion.

The budget of Ministry for metro project in Izmir is only TL 30k. Ministry stated that the tender for the metro will be opened within 2019 and the investment amount will be determined based on the tender. That amount is just a symbolic amount.

Transport of Ministry has been carrying out some of the metro and tram projects in Turkish cities. Here are the distribution of all projects of Ministry:

Among these, there are projects a great portion of which are completed, new projects to start in 2019 and planned project for following years. The total funding of Ministry until end of 2019 is as follows:

Ministry is carrying out 5 projects in Istanbul. Marmaray, Tavsantepe-Sabiha Gokcen Airport, Bakirkoy-Kirazli, Istanbul Airport and Yenikapi-Sefakoy metros. The total value of these projects is TL 50 bn. TL 6 bn will be spent this year. Among all, only Yenikapi-Sefakoy has not started yet.

The projects of Ministry in Ankara is 3. Ministry overtook the metro projects under construction. The suburban train, Baskentray, is almost completed except signalization. Metro to Esenboga Airport has not started yet.

There are two projects in Izmir. Izban and Halkapinar metro. Aliaga-Bergama phase of Izban has not started yet. Selcuk-Ortaklar is planned to reconstructed as double-track and signalized. Tender will be held within this year for Halkapinar metro.

There’s a plan of 21-km-long rail system for Konya, which was announced in 2017. Project has not started yet, there’s a symbolic budget for this year.

Ministry had constructed the 18-km-long Airport/Expo tram in Antalya. The tram line was commissioned in 2016.
