Hybrid locos at Turkey


First two Stadler hybrid locos of Korfez Ulastirma had arrived Turkey.

First two of seven Eurodual hybrid locos that Korfez Ulastirma ordered from Stadler had been delivered to Derince Port of Turkey early this week. The locos will start to be used after test procedures are completed.

Stadler’s Eurodual locomotives are the first hybrid main line locomotive in Turkish rail network. Locos have both diesel engines (2,8 MW) and electric engines (7,0 MW). 6-axle Co’Co’ locos will be able to pull trains upto 2000 gross tons. Adhession control system, regenerative brakes and remote control with cameras for shunting are in spect list of Stadler Eurodual.

Korfez Ulastirma is the subsidiary of Tupras, Turkey’s first and biggest producer in refining industry. Being the first private licence owner, Korfez Ulastirma started its operations in December 2017. Korfez Ulastirma had extended its fleet with 5 new Powerhaul diesel locos produced in Tulomsas in recent years. The company has also over 400 tank wagons in its fleet.

Korfez Ulastirma is currently giving service for Tupras between three rafineries: Izmit, Kirikkale and Batman. The locos of company runs on both electrified and non-electrified lines. These hybrid locos will provide an operational flexibility and efficiency in its operations.
