Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality declared its 2015 investment program. This year, 5.9 billion TL (about 2 billion Euro) will be invested in Istanbul. That means, two third of the total budget is for investments.

The biggest share in investments is for transportation services. This year’s budget is 3.3 billion TL, 56% of the total investment budget of Istanbul Municipality.

Railway investments have the biggest share in transportation investments. 2 billion TL will be invested in railway projects in 2015.

Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality gives priority to 5 metro projects in 2015. 85% of the investment budget for railway systems will be spent for the following projects:

A huge progress is planned for Uskudar-Umraniye-Cekmekoy Metro project this year. It won’t be suprising for the project to be completed in early 2016.

Second biggest fund is for two connected metro projects, Mecidiyekoy-Mahmutbey and Kabatas-Mecidiyekoy metro projects. The tender for Kabatas-Besiktas-Mecidiyekoy is announced to be done this month.

The first phase of Kartal-Kaynarca metro, extension of Kadikoy-Kartal metro, is going to be completed this year. Second phase will start this year, but only 10% is going to be constructed.

Unkapani-Yenikapi metro had already started operation in 2014. 83 million TL is going to be invested to complete the project.

An important amount in 2015 budget is the new metro cars for Haciosman-Yenikapi metro. Hyundai Rotem has won this tender which worths 219 million TL. This year, 88 million TL will be spent on this item.
