TCDD is planning to start ferry service between Bandirma and Tekirdag to shorten the railway distance from West and South of Turkey to Europe.
Thus, a ferry ramp is under construction in Bandirma Celebi Port, which has already railway connection. Until now, piling of 172 piles has been completed in the port. Further steps are pouring concrete over them, construction of ramp and track laying. Ferry ramp is expected to be completed in the second half of this year.
After the ramp, there may be a tender for the ferry service between Bandirma and Tekirdag.
Tender for construction of ferry ramp at Bandirma Port was opened in August 2012. Contract was signed in October 2012. Project worths 5.4mn TL (€ 2mn). Due date was June 2013, but was postponed to June 2014.
By ferry service between Bandirma and Tekirdag, railway transport to Europe from Bandirma, Balikesir, Manisa, Izmir, Aydin, Denizli, Kutahya, Afyon, Isparta, Konya, Karaman, Mersin, Adana, Iskenderun, Gaziantep and neighbour cities will be shorter and cheaper.

Hi, we plan to travel by car from Bulgaria to Marmaris in May 2016. I see there is ferry between Bandirma and Tekirdag, but I cannot find any information regarding timetable and price. Can you give some information in that respect? Or is it better to travel via Galibolu/Canakkale?
I guess it’s late for you, but for travelling by car, the best way is using ferries at Canakkale. See one of the ferry company’s website: http://www.canakkaletravel.com/feribot.htm
The rail ferry has not started yet, but even it would, that would not help the cars.
