IRIS (International Railway Industry Standard) is an certification foundation established by UNIFE (The European Rail Industry) for securing higher quality in the railway industry.
The aim of IRIS is to develop and implement a global system for the evaluation of rolling stock and signalling companies which have manufacturing, design or maintanance activities supplying to railway industry. Using a uniform language, uniform assessment guidelines and mutual acceptance of audits, IRIS helps transparency in industry.
The IRIS system defines requirements in content, procedures and evaluation of audits as well as requirements for certification bodies and auditors.All certification bodies should have an accreditation in accordance with ISO/IEC 17021:2006 and an IRIS approval. And auditors should complete IRIS training and succeed in written and oral examination.
There are 15 companies in Turkey which already completed IRIS certification. These companies are:
