Construction works started in Kabatas-Mecidiyekoy metro project which is a 7-km extension of Mahmutbey-Mecidiyekoy metro which is also under construction.

This extension will have 3 additional stationsk, Kabatas, Besiktas and Darphane and will be connected to the main metro line at Mecidiyekoy.

Mahmutbey-Mecidiyekoy-Kabatas metro line will cost around TL 3.5 bn (€ 1.2 bn). TL 500 mn is budgeted for this year. Main line (Mahmutbey-Mecidiyekoy) is planned to be completed in 2017 where this extension will be completed by 2018.

These two metro projects (M7) will connect ferries, sea buses, Kabatas-Taksim funicular (F1), Yenikapi-Haciosman metro (M2), Kabatas-Bagcilar tram (T1), Topkapi-Sultanciftligi tram (T4) and Otogar-Bagcilar-Basaksehir metro (M3). Daily ridership is expected to reach to 700k after two projects completed.
