1951 – Kars and USSR border (now Armenia) were connected to national network. Wagon repair workshop was founded at Adapazarı (today Tüvasaş).
1953 – 337 km long railway was completed in the third 10 years of Turkish Republic. The railway directorate had become a public enterprise with today’s name, Turkish State Railways (TCDD).
First electric suburban train
1955 – The first suburban train running with electricity started service on Sirkeci-Halkalı stretch.
1957 – Train chash at Istanbul. The biggest train accident with 95 dead.
First loco produced in Turkey
1961 – First steam loco (Karakurt) was produced in Eskişehir Railway Plant (today Tülomsaş).
1963 – 226 km long railway was completed in the fourth 10 years of Turkish Republic.
1970 – Second track on Sincan-Ankara-Kayaş stretch constructed.
1971 – Edirne and Bulgarian border, Van and Iran border were connected to national network.
1973 – 320 km long railway was completed in the fifth 10 years of Turkish Republic.
1983 – 98 km long railway was completed in the sixth 10 years of Turkish Republic. .
First diesel loco produced in Turkey
1985 – First diesel electric mainline loco (DE 24000) was produced under the licences of Traction Export and Chantiers de L’Atlantique.
1986 – First DE 11000 mainline and shunting loco was produced under the licence of Krauss Maffei.
1987 – First DE 22000 mainline loco was produced under the licence of General Motors.
1987 – First electric loco (E 43000) was produced under the licence of Toshiba.
1993 – 95 km long railway was completed in the seventh 10 years of Turkish Republic.
