At least 51% local production ratio is now a must in Turkey for all kinds of rail projects.
Prime Ministry published a circular stating that at least 51% local production ratio is a must for all kinds of rail projects including cable car, funicular, monorail, metro, ligh rail and trams.
The tenders shall not include terms which prevent local production and services. On the contrary, they have to include terms supporting local production.
Last year, Transportation Ministry had published a circular stating local production should be given priority. As a result, most of the tenders were awarded to companies which have local production facilities in Turkey.
New circular is now forcing at least 51% local production in all rail projects.
