The start of Baku Ankara overnight train service is postponed.
After delivery of first train set in March this year, Azerbaijan Railways announced that Baku Ankara train service will start in August.
Recently, an officer from Azerbaijan Railways stated that the train is ready for service, However customs operations at Turkey/Georgia border is not ready yet.
Trilateral meeting with Azerbaijan, Georgian and Turkish Railway was planned to be done in August to finalize the train slot, fares and customs, but postponed to late September.
Even preparations are ready until then, the train may start on late October at the earliest.
Meanwhile, the second train set for Baku-Ankara service is under construction at Stadler’s Minsk plant, and was recently announced that set will be ready in 2020 Q1.
