Markup may hit Iran railway traffic

Iran Railways announced new tariff for internatioanal traffic valid from 15.10.2013.

According to new tariff, the railway freight will increase by 5 €/to upto 20 €/to depending on the route.

Railway transports to Iran had a sharp decline after the rate of Turkish route to Iran was increased last year. Then TCDD drew back that and transport started to increase again. Traffic became so heavy that wagons to Iran were stopped to be loaded last week, due to congestion.

This new rate increase, in Iran route, will surely have a negative impact on transports.

Railway freight is trying to compete with the Iran trucks using very cheap oil of Iran which cannot provide regular supply and with the container lines which are not so frequent.
