Pendik is the last stop in Istanbul for Istanbul-Ankara high speed train.
Pendik Station is at the Asian side of Turkey, 25 km from Haydarpasa and 35 km from Taksim. That weakens the access to high speed train, which would be one of the biggest advantage of trains compared with planes.
High speed train has better access to Istanbul when Marmaray projects is completed in 2016. There’s also a plan of reaching directly to European side through “under-construction” 3rd bridge in long term.
Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality announced a number of buses connected to Pendik Station to strengthen the access. With these buses, it’s possible to reach to Bostanci, Kadikoy, Uskudar and Sisli (which is at European side) directly.
Here are the bus connections to high speed train:
133T : Bostanci. Connection to Bostanci Sea Bus terminal (route & stops).
251 : Sisli via Bosphorus Bridge. The only line to European side. Connection to Metrobus and metro system in European side (route & stops).
17 : Kadikoy. Connection to Metrobus (route & stops).
222 : Kadikoy (route & stops).
16 : Kadikoy (route & stops).
16A : Uskudar. Connection to Metrobus and Marmaray (route & stops).
16D : Kadikoy (route & stops).
