A new schedule is announced about suburban lines of Marmaray, where construction works had stopped since 2014.
According to new schedule, the Marmaray Project will be completed by the end of 2017. The new schedule is as follows, as declared by the Marmaray Region Manager Dr Haluk Ibrahim Ozmen:
Gebze – Pendik
New deadline is 2016 Q1.
Two lines had been completed in this section and is currently being used by high speed trains to Istanbul. Third line is going to be constructed. Thus, one line will be used by high speed trains and others where two lines are going to be used by Marmaray.
Passengers using this section will use bus connections to city center until Pendik-Ayrilikcesmesi section is opened.
Halkali – Kazlicesme
New deadline is end of 2017.
Removal of old lines had been completed in this section. Three electrified lines are going to be constructed and stations should be renewed for Marmaray service.
There’s no specific date for this section in last announcement, but it’s declared that continuous travel from Gebze to Halkali will be possible by the end of 2017.
The Bakirkoy-Kazlicesme section is planned to be opened beforehand.
Ayrilik Cesmesi – Pendik
New deadline is end of 2017.
Only removal of old lines had been completed in this section too. By the construction of three electrified lines, high speed trains will be able to reach to Haydarpasa.
Extension to next station after Ayrilik Cesmesi, Sogutlucesme, is planned open beforehand. Thus, connection to Metrobus will be achieved.
