First 5 of 19 metro sets to be used in Izmir Metro will be delivered in October.

Izmir Metropolitan Municipality inked a contract with Chinese company CRRC Tangshan for 19 metro sets last year to meet the increasing demand in Izmir Metro. First group of metro sets currently on production line in CRRC’s plant in China will be delivered in October as in the contract.

After the first delivery of 3 sets in October, 8 sets will be delivered in February 2017 and remaining 8 sets in May 2017.

19 sets each having 5 cars cost € 79,8 mn in total.

Izmir Metro, having daily ridership of 350 k passengers has 87 cars in its fleet. By delivery of 95 metro cars (19 sets), Izmir metro fleet will be doubled.
