Baspinar-Gaziantep-Oduncular railway stretch will be closed for 14 months.
The 67th-92nd kilometers of Narli-Nizip railway (Baspinar-Gaziantep-Mustafayavuz-Oduncular) will be closed for speeding up the engineering works of Gaziantep suburban train projiect (Gaziray).
The closure will start on 2nd May 2017 and will sat 14 months. The line is expected to reopen by 3rd July 2018.
During closure, Baspinar Terminal (18 km from Gaziantep) will be kept open for freight.
Since the railway to Nusaybin and Mardin is being kept closed for security reasons for a long time, this closure will only prevent direct access to Gaziantep and Nizip stations. Baspinar station will be the new address for these transports.
Last month, tender for Gaziray project was announced. Gulermak-Kolin-Kalyon joint venture was awarded for the project. The offer was TL 416 mn (€ 105 mn). The project is expected to be commissioned in 2018. Target is a daily ridership of 100 000 passengers in short term.
There’s a fund of TL 70 mn for Gaziray and Nurdag tunnel project in 2017 budget.
