Getting prepared for competition with private operators, TCDD Tasimacilik steps forward by organizing truck transportation as well like a logistics company.

TCDD Tasimacilik has inked a long term contract with Eti Maden about transportation of borax. For this transport, both trucks and trains will be used, all organized by TCDD Tasimacilik.

Contract covers transportation of 1 mn tons of borax every year. A direct rail connection is planned to be completed within 2 years. But TCDD Tasimacilik will organize the trucking part as well until then.

By this contract, TCDD Tasimacilik had a very important step in being a logistics company. With long term contracts and trustworthy in payments, TCDD Tasimacilik may secure good and cheap trucking service. Thus, a competitive door to door service for clients may be possible.

The state operators in France and Germany had stopped the fast market share loss with the same strategy. State operators establish subsidiaries in logistics. TCDD Tasimacilik seems to follow the same path.
