Three overnight trains, Dogu, Tatvan and Kurtalan has started to depart from Ankara station as of 4th of June after a 2-years period of departure from Irmak station.
In July 2016, due to the renewal project of Ankara suburban lines, many long-distance trains were either suspended or their routes were changed. All eastward trains from Ankara had started to depart from Irmak station.
In April the Baskentray project was commissioned causing questions about long-distance trains. Finally two sleeper trains (Dogu Express and Guney Kurtalan Express) departed from Ankara main station yesterday after a long time. Vangolu Express will also depart from Ankara today.
Now travellers are wondering if Izmir Mavi will restart departing from Ankara and if the two suspended main line trains, 4 Eylul Mavi and Cukurova Express will restart running again. There’s no official statement about these trains yet.
