Kardemir’s railcar wheels will be in the market next year.
Kardemir, which had started railcar wheel plant investment in 2013 has successfully completed casting phase of wheels. The further steps of production will soon be completed and wheels will be in the market after tests.
First product of the plant will be freight wagon wheels with a diameter of 920 mm. In the following 4 years, company is planning to produce wheels for passenger trains, high speed trains, locos and urban railcars.
Currently the wheels of all rail cars are being supplied from outside Turkey, China, Russia, Romania, Germany, France, Spain, Italy, Switzerland, Czech Republic and Ukrain. The annual need is around € 40 million.
