The investment budget of TCDD Tasimacilik is almost half of last year.

In 2019, TL 496 mn is allocated for TCDD Tasimacilik. This is almost half of last year’s budget, TL 953 mn.

The greatest portion of this year will be spent for “manufacture and modernization of wagons”. TL 234 mn will be spent this year for 865 wagons.

The second biggest item in investment budget is “maintanance and modernization of traction units”, TL 130 mn.

In fact, TCDD Tasimacilik is getting prepared for competition with private operators, thus is trying to renew/extend its fleet until 2023. Within this scope, TCDD Tasimacilik is planning to add;

• 20 diesel main line locos
• 64 electric main line locos
• 56 EMU sets
• 11 hybrid shunting locos

All this rolling stock is worth TL 4.7 bn together with equipments.

However, there’s no budget for diesel locos, hybrid shunting locos and EMU sets this year.

For electric main line locos, there’s only TL 24 mn fund, which means almost a loco.

This year’s budget brings to mind that there’ll be budget cuts from now on for TCDD Tasimacilik which is expected to stand on its own feet in a couple of years.
