TCDD announced suspension of three regional train service valid from yesterday all of which had started last year.

TCDD suspended Konya-Aksehir train service opened in August 2015, Cerkezkoy-Uzunkopru and Cerkezkoy-Kapikule services opened in October 2015 valid from 15.02.2016. None of these three trains could reach high occupancy rates.

As getting prepared to competition with private companies and all public subsidies is planned to end in 2.5 years, the passenger service section of TCDD, which will be a part of new train operator company of TCDD, TCDD Tasimacilik AS, seems to decide suspension of these passenger trains, which cannot compete with busses which are faster and have higher frequencies. No further detail is given by TCDD.
