Siemens is to supply signaling technology of Samsun-Kalin railway.
The 378-km-long single-track Samsun-Kalin railway connecting Samsun Port in Black Sea to Central Anatolia was started to be reconstructed last year.
By modernization of the rails and signaling equipment, maximum speed of trains will be increased from 70 to 120 km/h, cutting the journey time between Samsun and Kalin from nine to five hours.
Siemens is supplying the electronic interlocking systems, point machines, level-crossing technology, communication technology, and the train control system ETCS (European Train Control System) Level 1 for the route. The contract also includes equipping the operations control center located in Samsun.
Commissioning of the route is scheduled for the end of 2017.
Siemens was awarded for signaling of Istanbul M1 metro line, Bandirma-Menemen railway, Konya-Ankara high speed train line and Marmaray Tunnel.
