Turkish State Railways (TCDD) announced big discount in container demurrage fees in TCDD terminals.
New demurrage fee is 1 €/day-container no matter if the container is full/empty or export/import load.
New tariff shows TCDD’s intention to transform train terminals to container terminals. Simplicity of tariff will ease the management as well.
With this new tariff, the attractiveness of Halkali Terminal, which is in the middle of Istanbul is expected to increase. Halkali Terminal was opened to railway container traffic early this year, and had extended its storage area by relocation of Halkali “Truck” customs office.
