The 3rd train which will follow Baku-Tbilisi-Kars railway will depart from Kostonay.

After opening of Baku-Tbilisi-Kars railway which connects Turkey to Caucasus and Central Asia in October, the third train is getting prepared for transportation on this line.

3rd train will carry grain and fodder in 38 containers. The route of the 3rd train is the same with the first, from Kostanay to Mersin.

The first train on this route carried grain from Kostanay to Mersin. Second carried agricultural products and construction materials from Mersin to Azerbaijan and Turkmenistan. Trains completed Baku-Mersin stretch in 5 days.

First freight train to depart on Baku-Tblisi-Kars railway

This 3rd train will use train ferry which departs from Kuryk port to cross Caspian sea. This ferry port was commissioned at the end of last year and shortens Kazakhstan-Azerbaijan connection by 4 hours.

Until now, only block trains with single-customer only run on this line. There’s no regular container train service which is open to different customers. The tariff does not cover different circumstances and there are still dark areas about terminal services on the route.
