The first train to Europe using Baku-Tbilisi-Kars railway will depart within this month.
The new railway connection connecting Baku to Kars via Tbilisi which was opened last year will soon host the first container train from Europe. There will be a ceremony at Baku about this train on 5th of April.
This train operated by Rail Cargo in cooperation with ADY Express will be the first European train using Baku-Tbilisi-Kars railway. The train, carrying goods to Kazakhstan, will cross Marmara Sea by ferry since Marmaray rail connection is not ready yet.
Over 10 trains run on Baku-Tbilisi-Kars railway since the opening and over 500 containers have been carried. All trains had arrived to or departed from Mersin, carrying mainly grain, coal and construction material.
Also a 40-meters-long oversize cargo will soon be transported on Baku-Tbilisi-Kars railway.
