While desperately waiting to be connected to Turkish rail network, Antalya has got the chance to be connected to European train network next year.
There are two project on table which connects Antalya to national network, Afyon-Isparta-Antalya and Kayseri-Konya-Antalya. But Antalya will now be connected to European train network using Turkey’s strongest intermodal route, Ro-Ro service to Trieste.
UN Ro-Ro, has announced that Ro-Ro service between Antalya and Trieste will start in 2019 1Q. The Ro-Ro service between Mersin and Trieste will start calling at Antalya Port.
There are 2 weekly services from Mersin to Trieste, which takes containers and semi trailers and can be transported to many destinations in Europe via trains. This intermodal route is one of the favorites of logistic service providers. A container sent from Antalya will be in Trieste in less than 3 days, and can be transported to many destinations in Germany, Luxemburg, Austria, Belgium, Polland within 1-2 days.
