The first train carrying finished vehicles has arrived Mersin. This is the first time train is used for domestic distribution of cars in Turkey.
Turkey’s biggest finished vehicles logistics company, Omsan Logistics, has started using trains for distribution of finished vehicles in Turkey. The car wagons are loaded with 204 Renault and Dacia at Kosekoy logistics center, transported to Mersin Yenice logistics center on rail, and distributed to clients in that region.
Trains had been used only for transports between Turkey and Europe until now. Different brands used train including Renault, Dacia, Hyundai, Skoda, Mercedes and BMW. However this is the first time train is used for domestic transport.
The generel manager of Omsan Logistics, Mr Hakan Keskin, stated that this transport was very important for them and for Turkey, since they managed shift a load to rail which has been carried only by trucks until now.
About 1 million cars are sold in Turkey every year. Omsan Logistics is the market leader of domestics finished vehicle transports with 32% share.
