Six metro projects under construction are suspenden in Istanbul.
Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality announced that 6 of the metro projects are suspended and tenders will be renewed. On the other hand, 8 rail projects continue in Istanbul. Here are the rail projects under construction and suspended:
Marmaray (1)
Engineering works continue on surface lines of Marmaray connecting Halkali to Gebze and is expected to be completed in mid 2018. Then test runs will start and whole line is expected to be commissioned at the end of this year. By then, freight trains will be able to pass through Marmaray tunnel between Europe and Asia. High speed trains will reach Haydarpasa and Halkali.
Kabatas-Mecidiyekoy-Mahmutbey metro (2)
This project had the biggest fund of all last year. Ground works have completed. Metro is expected to be commissioned next year.
Atakoy-Ikitelli metro (3)
Engineering works had started in late 2015 for this 13-km-long metro line.
Bakirkoy-Kirazli metro (4)
Engineering works started in 2015 for this 9-km-long metro project. Target commission date is 2018.
Eminönü-Alibeyköy tramvayı (5)
Tram line continues along Golden Horn. 10-km-long line is expected to be commissioned in 2019.
