Phones in charge in Eastern Anatolia
There’s no signalization in almost all railway lines in Eastern Anatolia, all being managed by TMI. Some of the stations on these lines have mechanical safety systems on enterance and exit of stations.
Baspinar-Oduncular railway line (Gaziray)

The line crossing Gaziantep from one end to the other is being renewed, allowing high speed, suburban and other trains to run. Engineering works continue on the middle section which will go under city center. When completed, the line will have ETCS Level1 system.

Malatya-Elazig railway line

The freight traffic on Malatya-Elazig railway line is quite busy. The signalization system developed by Turkish companies is planned to be installed. Not started yet, but budget is allocated for the first time this year.
What is TMI?
Centralized management via phone. All staff involved in movement of trains communicate with traffic control center via phone and act based on orders taken from there. Lines managed with TMI means there’s no signalization.
What is mechanical signalization?
On tracks managed with TMI, mechanical systems may be used to increase safety. With this, go/stop orders can be seen visually on enterance and exit of stations.
What is ETCS Level1?
European train control system. The system where trains and tracks communicate with each other, speed limits can be determined specific to trains and drivers can get notices both via equipments in rolling stock and along track.
