Important rail projects are expected to be commissioned in 2019.

Here are metro, tram, HST, infrastructure projects to be commissioned and new passenger trains to start in 2019:

Suburban service from Gebze to Halkalı

The longest urban rail project of Istanbul with a length of 76.6 km wil be commissioned in first quarter of 2019. The suburban trains will give service in metro standard between Halkali and Gebze. The line allows interchange to many metro lines which will be an important solution for Istanbul traffic.

The 13-km-long section of Marmaray is on operation and has already an annual ridership of 60 million. The ridership is expected to reach to 200 million in short time. The target is 550 million passengers every year.
